Reading
Faith read the second half of The Case of the Hungry Stranger, by Bonsall.
Reinforced learning of the "ee" sound as in "Mrs. Meech" and "teeth".

Worksheet: Name each picture. Color the picture if you hear the long "e" sound as in "leaf" or "bee".
Worksheet: Name each picture. Write the missing letters and trace the vowel letters "ee" or "ea".
Math
Worksheet: Draw the correct number of circles in the boxes under each numbered truck.
Exercise: I handed Faith a pile of pennies and had her count how many. (20) I then asked her to divide the pennies in to two equal groups (in half). I asked her how many pennies were in each group. (10) and then showed her that 10 plus 10 equals 20.

Math
Dividing in Half: I brought home a pile of pennies that I'd found on my jog through the neighborhood. I had Faith divide them into two equal groups so that she could have some and her sister could have some.
Reading
A House for Hermit Crab, by Eric Carle.
Faith read pgs 1-44 of The Case of The Hungry Stranger, by Bonsall. She has really enjoyed this book so far. I think that is because it's a mystery and has a more complex plot that the usual easy reader books that she has read. She can't wait to turn the page. Yea for Faith being excited about reading a book!
Science, Bible Study
Currently, I'm reading Case for Creation, by Lee Strobel. Faith asked me what the book was about. This opened up a discussion about evolution and creation. From there, we began talking about space, the solar system, galaxies and the universe. I showed Faith several short videos on the internet that depict what it would be like to travel (visually) from our planet, through the solar system, our galaxy, our galaxy cluster, and into the outer reaches of the universe. She was fascinated by this. We looked at many pictures of what our galaxy (a spiral galaxy) is shaped like, and compared it to other galaxies. We also discussed what a theory is.

Faith observed more new growth of our seeds. Now the sunflowers have sprouted, also the oregano.

Plant, by Eyewitness Books. Discussed what is a plant, the parts of a plant, how plants make food from sunlight, chlorophyll, parts of a flower, pollination, varieties of flowers, how seeds go from seed to fruit, carnivorous plants, etc.
Faith read My "L" Sound Box, by Moncure.

Practiced writing the letter "G" in upper and lower case.
Worksheet: Write a "g" if the picture begins with the /g/ sound.
Bible Study
The story of Daniel and his friends when they chose not to eat the king's food.
Science
Faith noted as she was watering today that the seeds were beginning to sprout. We discussed how some plants grow faster than others. One container of zinnia and both pots of thyme sprouted today.

More fraction introduction.
Worksheet: Circle the foods that show equal parts.
Worksheet: Glue strips of paper onto each item to divide them into equal parts as indicated (2, 3, 4). Write the proper fraction on each part of the item (1/2, 1/3, 1/4).
Worksheet: Decide which fruit in each box is equally divided in half. Color the correct choice.
Using colored shapes of construction paper, and glue, Faith created a turkey sandwich. We discussed different ways to cut the sandwich that would make equal halves. Then we cut the sandwich and glued it to a sheet of paper. Faith wrote "1/2" on each piece.

Drew a large picture of a fairy castle complete with fairy, mermaid, fish, island, and rainbow.
Math
Fractions introduction. Learned about 1/2 and 1/4 by cutting pieces of paper. Faith practiced writing the symbols.
Measuring excercise. Faith measured pictures of various widths with her ruler and wrote the answer underneath. Some of the answers involved writing and measuring in halves.
Worksheet: Swim along with Ariel. First subtract all the problems. Then draw a line along the path with the answers that are 10.
